“The Winner Takes It All” ABBA Lyrics
I don’t wanna talk
About things we’ve gone through
Though it’s hurting me
Now it’s history
I’ve played all my cards
And that’s what you’ve done too
Nothing more to say
No more ace to play
The winner takes it all
The loser’s standing small
Beside the victory
That’s her destiny
I was in your arms
Thinking I belonged there
I figured it made sense
Building me a fence
Building me a home
Thinking I’d be strong there
But I was a fool
Playing by the rules
The gods may throw a dice
Their minds as cold as ice
And someone way down here
Loses someone dear
The winner takes it all
The loser has to fall
It’s simple and it’s plain
Why should I complain?
But tell me does she kiss
Like I used to kiss you?
Does it feel the same
When she calls your name?
Somewhere deep inside
You must know I miss you
But what can I say?
Rules must be obeyed
The judges will decide
The likes of me abide
Spectators of the show
Always staying low
The game is on again
A lover or a friend
A big thing or a small
The winner takes it all
I don’t wanna talk
If it makes you feel sad
And I understand
You’ve come to shake my hand
I apologize
If it makes you feel bad
Seeing me so tense
No self-confidence
But you see
The winner takes it all
The winner takes it all
So the winner takes it all
And the loser has to fall
Throw a dice, cold as ice
Way down here, someone dear
Takes it all, has to fall
It seems plain to me
Lyrical Diary: “The Winner Takes It All” ABBA Lyrics
“The Winner Takes It All” ABBA Lyrics. Writer(s): Benny Andersson, Bjoern K Ulvaeus
This is the first single released from the band’s album “Super Trouper” (1980).
After Bjorn Ulvaeus and Agnetha Faltskog of ABBA ended their marriage, the song was written by Bjorn Ulvaeus. After he went to the recording studio and played the song for her, she decided to go ahead and sing it despite his reservations about her doing so. The song was very personal for both of them, although it is not autobiographical but rather a reflection of a breakup in their relationship. Ulvaeus explained, “A lot of people think it’s right out of reality, but it’s not.”
Although this song is about a tragic event, Agnetha Faltskog stated in May 2013 that it was her favorite ABBA song, and she added, “Even though it’s about a sad topic, it’s my favorite.” “After our marriage ended, Bjorn wrote the song with us in mind and about us. The fact that he composed it when we finalized our divorce is really moving.”
Meryl Streep just needed one try to record this song for the soundtrack of the musical “Mamma Mia! ” (2008). In an interview with The Telegraph, Bjorn Ulvaeus lauded her performance, saying, “To hear her delivering the songs with all the emotion we placed in the lyrics is more than we could have dreamed of.”
We would appreciate it if you could let us know as soon as possible so we can correct the mistake and update the song as soon as possible. We would love to get them corrected for our readers.

Lyrical Diary-
Enjoy reading lyrics and trying to do them more than just lyrics, trying to have some more me. I enjoy doing this because it allows me to express myself in a unique way that not everyone can do. It also gives me a chance to learn new things, which I appreciate.
Lyrics are a way to communicate emotions, and they can be used to entertain or provoke an emotional response in the listener. Therefore, lyricists need to use complex academic jargon to evoke a strong emotional response. They can create a connection with their listener and hopefully evoke a feeling of enjoyment or pleasure.
