“Smooth Criminal” Michael Jackson Lyrics
As he came into the window
Was a sound of a crescendo
He came into her apartment
He left the bloodstains on the carpet
She ran underneath the table
He could see she was unable
So she ran into the bedroom
She was struck down, it was her doom
Annie, are you OK?
So, Annie, are you OK?
Are you OK, Annie?
Annie, are you OK?
So, Annie, are you OK?
Are you OK, Annie?
Annie, are you OK?
So, Annie, are you OK?
Are you OK, Annie?
Annie, are you OK?
So, Annie, are you OK,?
Are you OK, Annie?
Annie, are you OK?
Will you tell us that you’re OK
There’s a sound at the window
Then he struck you a crescendo, Annie
He came into your apartment
Left the bloodstains on the carpet
And then you ran into the bedroom
You were struck down
It was your doom
Annie, are you OK?
So, Annie, are you OK?
Are you OK, Annie?
Annie, are you OK?
So, Annie, are you OK?
Are you OK, Annie?
Annie, are you OK?
So, Annie, are you OK?
Are you OK, Annie?
You’ve been hit by—
You’ve been hit by a smooth criminal
So they came into the outway
It was Sunday, what a black day
Mouth-to-mouth resuscitation
Sounding heartbeats intimidations
Annie, are you OK?
So, Annie, are you OK?
Are you OK, Annie?
Annie, are you OK?
So, Annie, are you OK?
Are you OK, Annie?
Annie, are you OK?
So, Annie, are you OK?
Are you OK, Annie?
Annie, are you OK?
So, Annie, are you OK?
Are you OK, Annie?
Annie, are you OK?
Will you tell us that you’re OK
There’s a sound at the window
Then he struck you a crescendo, Annie
He came into your apartment
Left the bloodstains on the carpet
And then you ran into the bedroom
You were struck down
It was your doom
Annie, are you OK?
So, Annie, are you OK?
Are you OK, Annie?
You’ve been hit by—
You’ve been struck by a smooth criminal
OK, I want everybody to clear the area right now!
Annie, are you OK?
I don’t know!
Will you tell us, that you’re OK
I don’t know!
There’s a sound at the window
I don’t know!
That he struck you a crescendo, Annie
I don’t know!
He came into your apartment
I don’t know!
Left the bloodstains on the carpet
I don’t know why baby!
And then you ran into the bedroom
I don’t know!
You were struck down
It was your doom, Annie!
Annie, are you OK?
Dang gone it, baby!
Will you tell us, that you’re OK
Dang gone it, baby!
There’s a sound at the window
Dang gone it, baby!
That he struck you a crescendo, Annie
He came into your apartment
Dang gone it!
Left the bloodstains on the carpet
And then you ran into the bedroom
Dang gone it!
You were struck down
It was your doom, Annie!
Lyrical Diary: “Smooth Criminal” Michael Jackson Lyrics
“Smooth Criminal” Michael Jackson Lyrics. Writer(s): Michael Jackson
“Smooth Criminal” was created at the start as a pure video tune. In 1984, Michael Jackson had an idea of a western musical starring him as a gunslinger.
The song is a fictional tale of a crime gangster. The demo initially came out under the name “Al Capone “Al Capone” in 1986 (which was later released on the “Bad 25” album). When performing the track during The History tour (1996-1997), Michael Jackson was dressed like an era-defining 1930s Chicago criminal.
The most famous scene in this song’s music video is lean, which appears to Michael Jackson, and the backup dancers defy gravity by keeping their bodies at a 45-degree angle when they are in the middle of the ground.
Colin Chilvers directed the “Moonwalk” film, one of which is the “Smooth Criminal” segment. Chilvers was influenced by the golden time of Hollywood and demonstrated to Michael Jackson the film “The Third Man” (1949) to illustrate the theme he envisioned to include in the film.
This music video the song was partially inspired by Fred Astaire’s “Girl Hunt Ballet” dance number from the film “The Band Wagon” (1953). Michael Jackson wears a similar outfit: a white suit with a fedora. The choreographer of Astaire Hermes Pan was present at the film’s location and stated it was a great experience. Fred could have been satisfied and proud to be taken over by such a great person.
“Smooth Criminal’s music video “Smooth Criminal” won Best Music Video at the 1989 Brit Awards as well as The People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Music Video” in 1989.

Lyrical Diary-
Enjoy reading lyrics and trying to do them more than just lyrics, trying to have some more me. I enjoy doing this because it allows me to express myself in a unique way that not everyone can do. It also gives me a chance to learn new things, which I appreciate.
Lyrics are a way to communicate emotions, and they can be used to entertain or provoke an emotional response in the listener. Therefore, lyricists need to use complex academic jargon to evoke a strong emotional response. They can create a connection with their listener and hopefully evoke a feeling of enjoyment or pleasure.
