“Dancing Queen” ABBA Lyrics

“Dancing Queen” ABBA Lyrics

Ooh, you can dance, you can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl, watch that scene
Digging the dancing queen

Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for a place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swing
You come to look for a king

Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music’s high
With a bit of rock music, everything is fine
You’re in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance

You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen
Feel the beat from the tambourine
Oh, yeah

You can dance, you can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl, watch that scene
Digging the dancing queen

You’re a teaser, you turn ’em on
Leave them burning and then you’re gone
Looking out for another, anyone will do
You’re in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance

You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen
Feel the beat from the tambourine
Oh, yeah

You can dance, you can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl, watch that scene
Digging the dancing queen

Digging the dancing queen

Lyrical Diary: “Dancing Queen” ABBA Lyrics

“Dancing Queen” ABBA Lyrics. Writer(s): Michael Kunze, Bjoern K. Ulvaeus, Benny Goran Bror Andersson, Stig Erik Leopold Anderson

ABBA thought “Dancing Queen” would be a hit, so they waited to release the single. Benny Andersson’s backing music made Anni-Frid Lyngstad cry. She told The Guardian: “Before Agnetha, and I sang! It was ABBA’s finest tune.”
ABBA performed this song for Queen Silvia and King Gustaf XVI of Sweden the day before their wedding, June 18, 1976.

This was their sole number-one smash among 14 Top-40 songs in the US. This song achieved #1 in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Ireland, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Rhodesia, South Africa, Sweden, and West Germany.

U2 sang this in 1992. Onstage in Stockholm were Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson.

Anni-Frid Lyngstad sang this a cappella at Queen Silvia’s 50th birthday performance in 1993.

This 1995 song was the first to receive the ISWC. T-000.000.001-0.

“Dancing Queen” is the sole ABBA song in Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs list at number 174.

Lyrical Diary-

Enjoy reading lyrics and trying to do them more than just lyrics, trying to have some more me. I enjoy doing this because it allows me to express myself in a unique way that not everyone can do. It also gives me a chance to learn new things, which I appreciate.

Lyrics are a way to communicate emotions, and they can be used to entertain or provoke an emotional response in the listener. Therefore, lyricists need to use complex academic jargon to evoke a strong emotional response. They can create a connection with their listener and hopefully evoke a feeling of enjoyment or pleasure.
